Hi, I’m Jill Amison — founder of Blue Lotus Yoga, and a guide for women who want to live with more presence, purpose, and soul.

After years of burnout in the hospitality industry, I found my way home through yoga — not the performance-driven kind, but real, grounded, spiritual practice that helped me rebuild from the inside out.

I'm so glad you're here.
My story is one of grief, resilience, and renewal — and I hope it reminds you that healing is possible, and joy is always waiting to return. Through yoga, ritual, nourishment, and sacred connection, I help women like you navigate life’s seasons with grace, strength, and deep inner knowing.

Align with nature

From the age of 14, I immersed myself in the vibrant, demanding world of hospitality — beginning with peeling potatoes and waiting tables, and rising through the ranks to eventually become an Operations Director for an independent restaurant company.

While I loved the creativity and connection that food offered, the pace was relentless. I was constantly stressed, disconnected from my body, and teetering on the edge of burnout. I often wish I had discovered the grounding power of yoga and ritual back then.

Everything shifted when I left it all behind to join my first great love in the wilds of Canada. We embraced a simpler life among lakes, forests, mountains — and the quiet rhythm of nature. It was there, in the silence of the seasons, that I began to heal. I learned to live in tune with the earth, to slow down, and to find nourishment in simplicity — lessons gently taught by the land and by my partner.

Around that time, I discovered a local yoga class and began attending weekly. What began as curiosity soon became devotion. Yoga became a daily ritual — a lifeline and a homecoming.

When my beloved was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I shared the basic relaxation practices I had learned with him. Though skeptical at first, he eventually found comfort in the stillness. These simple, sacred tools supported us both through an unimaginable time.

My journey through grief, wilderness, and the steady unfolding of practice revealed to me the true heart of yoga: resilience, presence, and deep connection. It’s this spirit I now bring into my teaching — inviting you to explore not just movement, but meaning; not just poses, but presence; not just discipline, but devotion.

“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”

Align with nature

Since the tender age of 14 I worked in restaurants and hospitality management. Initially peeling potatoes and waiting tables. Then in later years managing restaurants and eventually becoming an Operations Director for an independent restaurant company. I wish I had discovered the joy of yoga & ritual back then, as I was permanently stressed, and on the verge of total burnout. It was then that I 'upped sticks' to go be with my first great love in the wilderness in Canada! We lived a simple life surrounded by trees, lakes, mountains and ranchers.  It was during this time that he taught me to align with the seasonal cycles and rhythms of nature. Also at this time I discovered a local Yoga Class and began to attend weekly. I immediately fell in love with the practice and also began a daily practice at home. When my beloved was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I shared the basic relaxation techniques that I had learnt with him - &, despite his initial scepticism, they proved to be a great support to both of us.

A path to healing

In 2001, I faced the devastating loss of my beloved. In the year that followed, I turned instinctively to the two things that had already begun to hold me: yoga and the natural world. Immersing myself in both, I found quiet yet powerful tools for healing, resilience, and renewal.

The following year, I traveled to California to begin my first of many Yoga Teacher Trainings. What unfolded was more than education — it was a deep remembering. These teachings offered not only structure and wisdom, but the courage to meet my grief, my fear, and my self-doubt with compassion and curiosity.

Through this transformative journey, I began to rebuild a life rooted in joy, ritual, and spiritual practice — one that continues to evolve with the seasons of my life.

These experiences shape everything I now offer. I teach not to perform or perfect, but to remember, to return, and to reconnect — with your Self, with nature, and with the sacred in everyday life.

If you're ready to move, to pause, to feel, to nourish — come with me. There is magic here.

“Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create.”
